Day 24: Investing in the Dream
Day 24 was less about training and more about progress outside the gym — completing bank steps, buying essential gear, and facing a long, exhausting parent meeting. Not every step is physical; some are about setting the stage for the next big move.
RECOVERY

A Cold Start, a Clear Mind
Day 24, I woke up earlier than usual today. Not perfectly rested, but energized nonetheless. The morning sun streamed through the window, casting warm rays across my face, and for a moment, I felt invigorated. I took my cold shower, part of the Wim Hof method I’ve been following loosely, and it instantly woke me up. It’s strange how that cold shock has become something I look forward to, a mental reset before the day begins, like a refreshing gust of wind that clears out the cobwebs of sleep lingering in my mind.
Even though I didn’t sleep much, energy wasn’t the problem. My body seems to have adapted to this routine, I wake up naturally now, almost like my system knows it’s time to move, like a clock ticking just right. Sure, maybe lack of sleep slows recovery or muscle growth a bit, but mentally, I feel unstoppable, ready to take on whatever challenges the day may throw my way.
I tried going back to sleep for a few minutes but couldn’t; my mind was racing with thoughts and plans. So, I got up and decided to take care of something important, the final step of my bank process.
Small Wins, Big Progress
I went to the self-service machine at the bank early in the morning, and finally; success! I successfully set up my online account and got my credit card activated. It might seem like a small thing, but for me, it represents independence, stability, and progress toward the life I’m building. Every small step is like laying a brick in the foundation of my future.
And with that came another exciting part, I finally got to buy the equipment I’ve been needing for weeks. I felt a rush of anticipation as I made my purchase, every item symbolizing my commitment to my goals.
I invested in:
🥊 Heavier boxing gloves (for bag work and protection). I can already picture myself in the gym, feeling empowered as I hit the bags with confidence.
💪 Headgear for sparring, providing me the security I need while learning to sharpen my skills.
🧤 Better wraps, ensuring my hands are adequately protected.
🩳 Sports outfits and shin guards, both essential for my training and well-being.
🧗 Jump rope, MMA gloves, and a few other essentials that I can’t wait to use!
The only thing missing now is my Jiu-Jitsu Gi, but that’s coming soon. Each piece of gear feels like a new chapter, a tangible step toward becoming better, not just as a fighter, but as someone who takes this dream seriously, striving for excellence in every aspect of my life.
The Grind Never Stops
After that early win, I headed to school for another regular day of teaching; lessons, grading, planning, and paperwork. The day went smoothly, filled with the usual hustle and bustle of classroom life, until the evening when we had the much-dreaded parent-teacher meeting. An event that often feels more like a chore than a meeting.
We sent students home early to prepare, but before the meeting itself, we had, believe it or not, a meeting about the meeting. Classic. It felt almost comical how much planning went into a gathering that seemed so straightforward. But that’s the nature of our work, always ensuring we are prepared for every situation.
I managed to leave school an hour earlier than usual, rushed home, and took a long, satisfying nap. I needed it. Mondays are usually gym or training days, designed to set the tone for the week, but this one was designated as a rest day; something I share with Fridays to give my body and mind a break. Sometimes, stepping back is what allows us to leap forward.
Still, after waking up, I had to get ready and head back for the evening session with parents. It was supposed to take three hours, but it dragged on longer than expected. Parent after parent came to ask about their kids, grades, attitude, improvement, behavior, all important things, but after a full day, it felt endless and taxing. Each conversation, while necessary, added to the exhaustion I was already feeling.
The Missing Piece
By the time I got home, it was 9:30 p.m. I was exhausted, hungry, and honestly didn’t feel like doing anything; not even a five-minute stretch. It’s not something I’m proud of, but I recognize that days like this happen, reality catching up to me like a shadow I can’t shake off.
As I sat reflecting later, something felt off, that feeling you get when you skip training. My body was fine, but my mind missed the rhythm, the grind, the sweat. Mondays usually mean boxing for me, and without it, the day felt incomplete, as if a vital piece of my routine was missing, leaving a void I couldn’t quite fill.
Still, I reminded myself that rest is part of the process. Today might not have been about pushing limits physically, but it was about building foundations, sorting out finances, getting the right tools, and preparing for the next level. Each moment spent organizing was an investment in my future self.
This journey isn’t just about showing up at the gym. It’s also about showing up for your life, piece by piece, decision by decision, and recognizing the power in both action and inaction.
Reflection
Today was a reminder that progress isn’t always visible in sweat. Sometimes, it’s in organization, preparation, and self-investment. I took care of important tasks that will support my long-term goals. The new equipment symbolizes growth, the kind you can hold, wear, and use to sharpen your craft, each item a testament to my commitment to my journey.
Sure, I missed training today, but I invested in something bigger: my future consistency. It’s the little sacrifices today that pave the way for the triumphs of tomorrow.
Day 24 complete. The grind continues, smarter and stronger.
