A Quiet Morning and a Return to Routine
Day 64 started early even though I have been away from morning boxing for more than a month. A mix of late wake ups, injury recovery, and the coach being away for tournaments kept me out of those six a.m. sessions. Still, I woke up early today and stepped straight into a cold shower, feeling the water invigorate my senses and awaken my body. I followed it with breathing exercises, taking deep breaths to fill my lungs with fresh air, and doing them in the morning felt far better than the evening sessions that I had grown accustomed to. It set a calm, focused tone for the day, making me feel as if I could tackle any challenge ahead of me.
Since I finished most of my chores yesterday, the morning felt light and free. I spent it mostly working on my blog, pouring my thoughts onto the screen and crafting posts that captured my experiences and insights before heading out for what I hoped would be a productive afternoon. I enjoyed the quiet pace of the morning, relishing the opportunity to think creatively and without rush, which isn't always possible.
A Long Trip That Led Nowhere
In the afternoon, driven by ambition, I tried going to the boxing tournament, hoping to watch, learn, and feel the atmosphere of excitement and competition. The trip took more than an hour, navigating through the city, and then another hour searching the campus for the exact location as time slipped away. I never found the right hall. Time was running out, and I needed to eat and get some work done, so after much searching in vain, I eventually gave up and headed back, feeling the weight of disappointment on my shoulders.
It was disappointing, especially because I really wanted to see how tournaments unfold, to absorb the energy of the crowd and the intensity of the matches. But I reached late, searched in the wrong areas, and simply did not prepare enough. I had not checked the venue prior or gotten detailed directions, which was a learning experience. Next time I will make sure to plan more thoroughly, ensuring that I have all the information needed in advance to avoid such setbacks.
Evening Training and a Smooth Muay Thai Session
The evening brought the real highlight of Day 64. I went to Muay Thai, and the class was small, only around eight students, which allowed for more personalized attention and interaction. We started with tempo running, arm movements, high knees, heels to the back, and faster sprints before winding down with stretching. Muay Thai always gives me the best leg stretches, helping to improve my flexibility and mobility, and today felt especially good as I pushed through my limits.
After gearing up, we worked through a long set of exchanges. Jab and cross, hooks, body shots, mid kicks to each side, and then my favorite part: combinations. Jab, jab, cross, hook, right low kick, hook, cross, double left high kick. Each combination flowed into the next, feeling more natural as I practiced. After that, we added clinch, knee, left hook, and right elbow, further enhancing our skills and techniques.
My kicks felt smoother, my timing more natural, and my rhythm finally starting to click as the session progressed. Even my partner and one of the coaches complimented my speed and technique, which bolstered my confidence. It was the kind of session that gives you a quiet confidence that the hard work I had put in was paying off, affirming that my training was moving in the right direction.
We ended with four grueling rounds of squats, pushups, crunches, and finally planks, pushing our limits both physically and mentally. My rib still aches during certain core movements, a reminder of past injuries, but it is improving little by little, giving me hope for a complete recovery.
After class, feeling accomplished and satisfied, I grabbed something to eat, took my cold shower, and got ready to sleep, allowing my body to rest and recover for the next day’s endeavors.
Day Sixty Four Lesson
Day 64 reminded me that even when plans fail, discipline can save the day. Missing the tournament was frustrating, but showing up to training and giving my best was enough to turn the day around and restore my spirits. Progress does not only happen during victories or big moments; it often occurs quietly during a simple, focused session where things just flow, and one can truly feel as though they are growing.
Day 64 complete. Consistency shows up in many forms. Today it showed up through effort, rhythm, and resilience. The grind continues. Stay focused and keep pushing forward, as every small step makes a difference in the journey.
