A Calm Morning and Personal Reset
Day 78 began calmly on a beautiful Saturday morning, as sunlight streamed gently through the curtains. I woke up later than usual, savoring the warmth of my bed for a few extra moments. After emerging, I took a refreshing cold shower, which was invigorating and helped me feel more awake and focused. Following that, I finally handled several personal tasks and calls that I had been postponing for far too long. The slower pace of the morning felt absolutely necessary and incredibly soothing. I spent the morning and early afternoon working on my blog, creating new content and organizing my thoughts meticulously, before enjoying a wholesome lunch. I took my daily supplements, including vitamin D3, K2, and omega three, ensuring my body received the nutrients it craved.
Since I woke up late, there was no morning gym session to keep my routine intact. Instead, I planned a double training session for later in the evening to make up for it. Before heading out to my afternoon activities, I prepared everything with great care and took L citrulline, collagen, zinc and vitamin C to support my performance and recovery effectively.
Jiu Jitsu Learning and Technical Growth
I arrived slightly late to jiu jitsu class, which ran from six to seven thirty, a habit I still need to correct. The coach welcomed me with a smile and promptly asked me to warm up with sprawls and jumps. As more students arrived, the group grew steadily to around twenty enthusiastic participants, all eager to learn and train together.
The coach expertly paired beginners with more experienced partners, allowing for a smooth learning experience. I was fortunate enough to work with a blue belt, which made a big difference in both my confidence and skill development. We drilled multiple techniques during the session, including back control entries, wrist control transitions, single leg entries to back takes, and controlled takedowns from the back, which were challenging yet rewarding.
After that, we moved into closed guard drills that focused intensively on the scissor sweep. This time, the coach went into much deeper detail than usual, ensuring that every small movement mattered. My partner was extremely helpful and patient, and I felt myself improving quickly with each attempt. We also practiced counters and positional control, followed by controlled sparring that specifically focused on correct guard usage, which was both exhilarating and eye-opening.
Time truly flew by during our session. The atmosphere in jiu jitsu is something I truly love; it combines discipline with respect and camaraderie. Before leaving, the coach took a moment to tell me that I had great potential and encouraged me to keep attending classes consistently. Hearing that meant so much to me, and it lit a fire of motivation within me.
Short Break and Boxing Community
After finishing jiu jitsu, I had thirty precious minutes before the next session. I used this time wisely to engage in conversation with other students, catching up on our respective journeys in martial arts. One boxer I trained with before shared exciting news about an upcoming adult tournament he would compete in, which really piqued my interest. We exchanged numbers, and I promised to show my support for him during the tournament and, hopefully, cheer him on from the sidelines. It will also give me a chance to experience the tournament atmosphere once again, even though I still feel I am not quite ready to compete just yet.
During this brief interlude, I grabbed a small healthy snack to refuel my energy and prepared mentally for the next session, focusing on my goals and intentions for the day.
Muay Thai Conditioning and Mental Toughness
The Muay Thai session started around eight in the evening, and there was no technique focus today, which was an interesting deviation from our usual routine. Instead, the emphasis was entirely on conditioning, stamina, and strength-building exercises. The warm-up included running, jumping, mobility work, and extensive stretching sessions, especially for the legs to ensure we were well-prepared for the more intense workout to come.
We then transitioned into strength work using weighted bars, which required a hefty focus on our shoulders, forearms, and overall endurance. The pace was intense and kept everyone on their toes. After an exhaustive strength session, we completed one hundred fifty squats as a united group. Surprisingly, I felt strong and energetic throughout that demanding exercise, even more than I had expected.
Next, we participated in tire kicking drills, working in groups of three, where we executed ten kicks per leg, which we repeated multiple times for maximum effect. The pain was undeniably real, especially on my shins, but this kind of challenging work is absolutely essential for growth. We concluded the session with intense abdominal training that pushed everyone to their very limits, leaving us all breathless yet satisfied.
The session ended close to ten. I took a moment afterward to talk with a few students, sharing information about upcoming marathons and tournaments, and I made sure to ask them to keep me informed if they hear anything exciting or noteworthy.
Day Seventy Eight Lesson
Today served to remind me what full commitment truly feels like. I gave everything I had, both mentally and physically. This experience taught me that a vacation does not mean stopping completely; rather, it means training smarter, learning deeper, and building consistency without making excuses.
Day 78 complete. The grind continues, and I look forward to what tomorrow brings.
